It is written that Satan is the king and god of this world.1 Satan tempted Jesus by telling Him that he would give Him dominion over the kingdoms of the earth if Jesus would but bow down and worship him.2 Our Lord refused, of course, in His righteousness, but, nevertheless, did not dispute that Satan had the power to give Him exactly what was promised.3 Therefore, Satan has not only spiritual power and authority, only to the extent allowed and permitted by God,4 but also has power in the physical world and authority through those who follow him with a corrupt mind, an evil heart, and a lust for power.5 These human agents of hell use the law as a weapon against the Church and the faithful, turning that which is intended for good into a tool for evil.6 This project identifies instances where this has occurred in the past, is occurring presently, or is about to occur in the immediate future. Through the law, enslavement of humanity can be secured by the devil without the firing of a single shot from a rifle.7 Indeed, world enslavement is prophesied in the end times.8 No war is necessary in the physical world in such an event, as the war has already occurred in the spiritual realm and is merely manifesting itself in the physical realm (the earth) by the signing of a law with a pen.9 Once secular law is established, whether that law is outlawing the worship of Christ, the assembly of people in Christ’s name, or the means by which men may remain free through their God-given right to defend themselves against tyranny,10 the law is very difficult to change absent a miracle.11 This is why prayer, church attendance, and service to God are so vitally important.12

7“And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots. And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots. And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers. And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants. And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants. And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work. He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants. And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.” 1 Samuel 8:11–18 (KJV). “Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land. Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour: And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.” Exodus 1:8–14 (KJV). ↩︎

And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. Yet they had a file for the mattocks, and for the coulters, and for the forks, and for the axes, and to sharpen the goads. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. As citizens, they share in all things with others, and yet endure all things as if foreigners. Every foreign land is to them as their native country, and every land of their birth as a land of strangers. They marry, as do all [others]; they beget children; but they do not destroy their offspring. They have a common table, but not a common bed. They are in the flesh, but they do not live after the flesh. They pass their days on earth, but they are citizens of heaven.” The Epistle to Diognetus, chap. 5, in The Ante-Nicene Fathers, ed.
